Complex Migration Flows and Multiple Drivers in Comparative Perspective (MEMO)

As the quantitative data modeler for the project, I compile loads of geospatial data to formulate statistical measures that can be applied to uncover regional/location dependent/ contexual drivers of migration. MEMO is a SSHRC funded Partnership Grant that fosters collaboration between over 15+ research institutions and 20+ community groups, all from around the world. A regional systems approach is taken to study what motivates people to move especially in relation between nations and Canada.

ECCC Spotlight

Submitted protected areas for the 30x30 Protected Areas Initiative

The federal government set the goal to conserve 30 percent of Canada's land and water by 2030. To conserve 30 percent of Canada's land, it was imperative to include smaller areas protected close to urban centres such as in Southern Ontario. As part of my work as a GIS Technician at the Ontario Land Trust Alliance (OLTA) one of our projets was to submit geographic areas to Environment and Climate Change Canada. Areas and lands protected by the land trust and conservation organizations in Ontario would count towards Canada's Protect 30x30 inititative.
